NASTT New Installation Methods Good Practices Short Course 2009

| Comments Off

In conjunction with the 2009 Northwest Trenchless Conference, the NASTT-NW Chapter is proud to be presenting a pre-conference short course. The short course for 2009 is NASTT’s New Installation Methods Good Practices Short Course.

The one-day short course addresses a number of trenchless methods commonly used to install new pipe and pipe casings. These methods include: auger boring, pipe ramming, pipe jacking and the pilot tube method. The key to any successful project is using the right construction method. The NASTT New Installation Methods Good Practices Seminar will help you to determine which method to use under various project conditions and requirements using examples and case studies to illustrate. The course is ideally suited for municipal engineers, utility personnel, designers, managers, owners and contractors who are involved in the construction, rehabilitating and managing of underground utilities. Click here for additional information from NASTT regarding the short course.

| Comments Off

NASTT Colleagues and Friends,

Please join us for the fifth technical lunch of the 2008-09 season on Thursday March 19.

This month’s speakers will be D. Philip Alex and Siri Fernando of The City of Edmonton’s Drainage Services, Design and Construction Branch.

Alex and Siri will be speaking to us about the innovative trenchless practices adopted by the City of Edmonton. Historically, the City has been one of the front runners in the advancement of trenchless technology within North America.  The City’s expertise in the field of trenchless technology has by far been the most wide spread and thus been declared as the pioneer municipality in the incorporation of the trenchless technologies. With an extensive fleet of in-house equipments, the City is constantly advancing their expertise through the purchase of newer and well equipped machines like the state of the art technologies like the drill rig and the Pilot Tube Micro-tunnelling machine. This presentation will highlight the evolution from the traditional practices to the new practices involving new equipment, research, risk management and mitigation based on simulation studies.
